  1. Take a bowl and add 3 tbsp. gram flour.

  5. Add ½ tbsp. turmeric powder, add 2 dry red chilies, 2 bay leaves, 1 cinnamon, 1 star anise, 4-5 cloves, 2 spicy green chilies, 1 tbsp. chopped ginger and 2 tbsp. chopped garlic then mix it well.

  6. Add 2 chopped less spicy green chili and ½ cup chopped tomatoes.

  7. Add gram flour and butter flour mixtures in the pan.

  8. Add 1 ½ bowl water.

  9. salt as per taste, ½ tbsp. garam masala and 1 tbsp. cumin powder in the pan. Mix it well.

  10. Add ½ cup spring onions in the pan and simmer for 15 minutes. Add 1 tbsp. butter, this is optional

Recipe Notes

  • To have nice color add turmeric in the curd besan mixture.

 

  • Also, adding sugar sets the flavor of Kadhi.

 

  • Use sour curd/buttermilk for a more luscious flavor in Kadhi.

 

  • Cook the Gujarati Kadhi recipe on low to medium flame for at least 15 minutes, else the besan taste raw.

 

  • Serve hot with Gujarati Khichdi, roti, Bhaat, jeera rice, Vaghareli Khichdi, or Bhakhri.
