Today I made it with leftover rice with is equally tasty. Most of the time people do not use the leftover rice and this rice is usually trashed out. But the thing is you can make a lot of dishes using leftover rice. It is a healthy option as well.

  1. Take a bowl and add 1 bowl leftover cooked rice.


  2. Add ½ cup fine chopped onion, ¼ cup boiled corn, 1 tbsp. fine chopped green chilies, 1/3 cup fine chopped potatoes, 1/3 cup fine chopped tomatoes, and ¼ cup green peas.


  3. Add 1 tbsp. paprika and 1 tbsp. oregano.


  4. Add salt as per taste, 1 tbsp. black salt, 1 tbsp. black paper powder, 1/3 cup rice flour, and ¾ cup gram flour. Mix all together.


  5. Grease hands with oil then take small amount of mixture, make patty then put cheese cube in center of patty.


  6. Cover it with that mixture and make small balls.


  7. Deep fry the balls.


  8. Take a pan and heat it up. Add 1 ½ tbsp. oil and ½ cup sliced onions.


  9. Add 1 cup chopped cabbages and 1 ½ tbsp. schezwan sauce.


  10. Add 2 tbsp. tomato sauce.


  11. Add rice ball in the pan.


  12. Add salt as per taste, 1 tbsp. red chili powder. Mix it well.


  13. Add chopped coriander leaves.


  14. Put it out and decorate with chopped coriander leaves.


Recipe Notes

  • If the vegetables are not finely diced, you will either not be able to shape the balls else they may break while frying.
  • The trick is to make sure there is no extra moisture in the veggie mixture.Do not add extra water in the vegetable mixture. 
  • Use a heavy pan with slight flat base for frying these dumplings. The oil should be hot but not smoking and maintain medium flame while frying.
  • Instead of Maida just use chickpea flour. You can also use a mix of chickpea flour and rice flour.
