The grilled stuffed capsicum is delicious with a burst of Indian flavors. Stuffed capsicum/ Bharwa shimla mirch is a simple yet delicious recipe. They can be eaten as an appetizer or a side in your meal. The stuffing used in this recipe enhances the flavor of the dish by giving it a distinct spicy taste and melt in the mouth creamy texture.

This recipe is a fusion recipe with an Indian touch and Indian spices. Traditionally, the stuffed capsicum recipe is a Spanish cuisine delicacy that is served basically with cheese topping. Kids love when they return from school and at snack time this recipe is ready to serve for them.

I made this stuff of finely garlic, onions, sweet corn and grated paneer with some home seasonings for flavorful taste to fill into capsicum; I used also other spices like oregano with stuffed capsicum for taste.

Lastly, I have used the tawa to cook the stuffed capsicum with very little oil at the bottom. These stuffed bell papers can also be grilled in an oven. It is convenient to oven grill especially when you want to make a large batch.

  1. Take a pan and heat it up then add 1 tbsp. butter.

  2. Add 1/3 cup chopped onions. Mix in butter well.

  3. Add 2 tbsp. chopped tomatoes and 1/3 cup boiled corn.

  4. Add 1 ½ cup grated paneer.

  5. Add 2 tbsp. green peas.

  6. Add salt as per taste, 1 tbsp. cumin powder, 1 tbsp. paprika, and 1 tbsp. mixed herbs. Sauté well.

  7. Take 2 big capsicum and cut it.

  8. Stuffed paneer mixture in the capsicum.

  9. Take a pan and put stuffed capsicum in the pan then cover it with lid. After that, roast in pan for 15 minutes.

  10. Add mozzarella cheese on the stuffed capsicums.

  11. Take out then sprinkle some paprika on the capsicum and serve it as a delicious starter.

Recipe Notes

  • You can make this with large bell peppers too. In that case, I would suggest cutting them into rings.
  • If you want add hing (asafoetida) to make stuffed capsicum recipe.
  • Keep turning and changing its position side wise and upside down.
  • You can vary the vegetables used in the filling as per your choice.
