Introduction:
Malpua recipe also known as pua, is usually served as a dessert in many countries like Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. This dish is originated in the Indian subcontinent. It has been a historical dish that was eaten in the Vedic period by the aryas. Being a sweet cake it is a very delicious dish.
The batter used to make malpua differs in many states. Some people use a mixture of ripe bananas while some people use a mixture seasoned with cardamons.
Malpua is also, served as a traditional dish in the Sanja dhupa(evening prayer) of Lord Jagannath. The kind of mixture they use in the batter for this puja is made with flour and thickened milk. Also, the Muslim community uses malpua as a traditional dish in the holy month of Ramadan. (For iftar – the meal eaten to break the fast). The mixture Muslim peoples use for its batter includes mawa, maida, Rawa, and khoya.
Benefits:
Malpua recipe has many health benefits that one didn’t know much about. The use of wheat flour in this dish makes the dish much healthier. Since wheat flour is outstanding for diabetics as it is a low glycemic index food. One malpua has 144 calories which include a large percentage of carbohydrates making it good for the adult diet. Malpua also provides some amount of total daily content of calories which is a requirement of a proper adult diet. In winters, malpua is much more suitable to eat. The nutritional value of malpua is dependent on the use of whole wheat flour. Since entire wheat flour is healthy for the body’s metabolism it is a preferential ingredient in the malpua. An adult diet has a necessity of small content of sugar which is fulfilled by the sugar syrup used in making malpua. Also, the rava used in this dish provides calcium making it much healthier for consumption.
Limitations:
This dish has much amount of sugar which is also sometimes referred to as white poison. Being a zero nutritional value carbohydrate, sugar is not good for health. Also, sugar is the leading cause of problems related to blood sugar levels, it shutdowns the fat-burning process in the body.
malpua recipe is a deep-fried food which certainly is not suitable for healthy living. Inflammation in the body is increased due to the intake of deep-fried food. So, it is not good food for diabetic and heart patients. But, eating this dish occasionally does not make it much harmful for diabetic or heart patients. So, they can have it in a small amount at festivals.
How To make malpua recipe with wheat flour | malpua banane ki vidhi | pua recipe steps by steps with photos:
In a bowl put 3/4 cup of wheat flour.
Add 1/4 Cup Grind Semolina (Rava)
Then 1 tbsp Cardamom Powder.
Then add 1 and 1/4 Cup Lukewarm milk gradually in the bowl and mix it well. (Make lump-free batter).
In the batter add 2 tbsp of Fresh malai and mix it well.
Now, cover the above batter and rest it for 20-25 minutes.
In a pan, add 1 cup water.
Add 1 cup sugar.
Then add 1/2 tbsp Cardamom powder, and some Saffron.
Then mix it till sugar dissolves, make sticky syrup. (Don’t take 1 string syrup)
After 30 minutes, take 1/4 Pan oil and heat it. Add 1/4 cup batter to the pan. (Pour from high).
Cook both sides on low flame.
Now, deep in medium hot Sugar syrup for 2-3 minutes.
Take it out and serve it in a tray.
To garnish it sprinkle some chopped pistachio and some sugar syrup on it. Finally, it’s ready to serve. Enjoy the delicious malpua recipe with your friends and family!
